The extreme northeast of the island is not very large in terms of area. Bangrak, Chongmon to the beach through the giant Buddha statue, this part of the island is nonetheless one of the most popular for tourists. Small but beautiful beaches and high range hotels are present. Relatively isolated and quiet due to its location in one of the points of the island, Bangrak, Plai Laem and Chongmon are easily accessible and close to all major attractions of the island, including the villages of Lamai, Chaweng and Bophut.

Bangrak Beach


Just east of the fishing village of Bophut and close to the airport is the village of Bangrak. Small village with no real center, some hotels are scattered along the coast and inland. Local restaurants and others that offer international cuisine are presented in Bangrak. There is also a good range of bars that will delight connoisseurs. The beach along the village is not long but offers a beautiful view of the huge statue of Buddha. The beach is also home to the main port for the speedboats that depart several times a day to the island of Koh Tao, famous for its coral reefs, and to the island of Koh Phangan, known for its immense night party on the beach which occurs every month during the full moon (“full moon party”).gfgdfgdfgd

Plai Laem Temple

Plai Laem

Just north of Bangrak is the village of Plai Laem that benefits both the attractiveness of major tourist places of the island. The giant Buddha (Wat Phra Yai) is probably the most favorite tourist attraction for those who travel to Samui. Although anchored on its island and facing Koh Samui as to better protect the statue covered with gold leaves of 12 meters high. A small road connecting the mainland to the island that houses the giant Buddha. The surroundings of the temple are animated with small shops and small local restaurants providing some Thai dishes.

Another major attraction not far away, Wat Plai Laem temple is located beside a charming small lake full of huge fish well fed by visitors. The impressive main statue of the temple deity Guanyin is the Chinese with 18 arms.Capture25151

Villa Height Choengmon


Passing Plai Laem to Choengmon, one arrives on the east coast of Samui. Chongmon Beach is one of the most famous in the island. Small but beautiful with its clear water and pure white sand, this beach has attracted by its natural charm among the most beautiful hotels on the island including the Imperial Boat House Beach Resort and the Muang Samui Villas and Suites. Bay Choengmon, although located in a quiet and protected place, has a very good range of restaurants and bars that allow you to taste very good meals and entertainment without having to travel far away.

Going north from Choengmon after a little exploration, it is possible to find small beautiful coves untouched by tourists, and other such Thong Son Bay, Samrong Bay, and bordered by one or two hotels that benefit a tranquil location in the extreme northeast of the island. Instead, Choengmon is in proximity of 3 kilometers south of the famous Chaweng Beach and its lively nightlife.Capture5555
