28th July – Anniversary of King Vajiralongkorn
Among many holidays on the calendar of Thailand, the birthday of King Bhumibol Aduljadej on December 5th remains one of the most important, even after his disappearance on October 13th, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Since 2017, however, the new holiday of July 28th has appeared, the date that marks the birthday of the new King Vajirlongkorn, or King Rama X.
Rama X
Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun or Rama X was born on July 28th, 1952 in Bangkok. He is the new King of Thailand since 1st December 2016. A member of the Chakri dynasty, ruling since 1782, he is the only son among the four children of King Bhumibol Adulyadej – Rama IX – Who left behind on October 13th, 2016 after 70 years of reign. Vajiralongkorn is 64 years, the oldest ruler of the dynasty to accede to the throne.
July 28th
This day became a holiday since 2017 became a particular date in the calendar, celebrating the birth of King Vajiralongkorn or Rama X, current Sovereign of Thailand. For this occasion, the whole Kingdom is invited to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.
The Thai Prime Minister, General Prayuth Chan-o-Cha also wishes to remind the population to celebrate as it should be important day by many religious ceremonies held throughout the country. Ceremonies will be organized for offerings and alms for monks in the many temples of the Land of Smiles.

According to the Prime Minister, religious ceremonies were held at Sanam Luang Park which is usually the main venue for royal events. Of Buddhist relics have also right-and already installed there, being in front of the Royal Palace, in sight of the faithful who would collect it.
