New weekend train between Bangkok and Pattaya
Good news for those who want to escape the capital and enjoy the sea air for the weekend!
A new train will connect Bangkok to the small seaside resort of Sattahip, with a stop in Pattaya. Timetables, travel time and cost: The train will be operational on Saturday and Sunday starting from this coming weekend (Saturday, March 17, 2018) with a departure from Bangkok at 6:30 am for an arrival in Pattaya at 9:00 am. In the opposite direction, the departure will be at 3:50 pm for an arrival in Bangkok at 6:50 pm. The cost of the ticket for a one-way trip from Bangkok to the terminus has been fixed at 170 THB (a little over 5 USD).
Stations
You will find below the list of stations served by the train:
• Sri Racha
• Pattaya – North
• Pattaya – Floating Market
• Nongnuch Botanical Garden
• Wat Yan Sangwararam (temple)
• Ban Plu Ta Luang (Sattahip)
A shuttle service will be available at each destination to transport travellers to nearby attractions. The introduction of this new train is scheduled for a trial period of 6 months and if it is conclusive, it is likely that the train is put into service all year. There is already a line connecting Bangkok to Pattaya but it only works during the weekdays.
Oh, and it is not air-conditioned… With the myriad of buses and other vans available at any time and at a lower cost to reach the seaside resort, not sure that this train finds takers…
Case to follow!
