[Phuket] North West of the Island

Northwest of Phuket island; Mai Khao , Nay Yang, Nai Thon

The three areas of Mai Khao, Nai Yang, and Nai Thon are located in the extreme northwest of the island of Phuket. Popular and crowded, the beaches of these villages are nevertheless very attractive and above the longest that can be found on the island. Hotels are rarer than elsewhere but offer relative tranquillity and quality of superior service. Well located, these areas are ideally served by road, and are close to the bridge in the far north that connects the island to the mainland. Phuket International Airport is also located in this part of the island.

Mai Khao Beach

Mai Khao is located in the extreme northwest of the island. Extremely sparsely populated and furnished, it is the longest beach on the island. Ideal for walking on the beach or swim in the water, Mai Khao is an atypical location of Phuket with very few buildings, with the notable exception of a 5-star JW Marriott group recently built with other few luxury resorts scattered along the beach. The quiet and unspoiled nature of this long beach is explained by the fact that it is partly covered by the National Park Sirinat.

Mai Khao only remains the major entry point of the island by its situation. In the far north of Mai Khao Beach exists the bridge that connects by road to the mainland. In addition, the Phuket International Airport, in full development, allows flights to five continents without having to stop in Bangkok.

Arc-shaped circles, this beach covers approximately two kilometers and is home to only three resorts that overlook the bay and some other inland. Much of the beach, classified as a national park, gives this look a peaceful bay with its shady spots and natural charm.

In addition to the sea activities; i.e. swimming, sunbathing, beach massage, kiteboarding, etc., Nai Yang Beach is a short distance from the Blue Canyon Country Club which includes two 18-hole golf courses among the most beautiful of the island.

Nai Yang is just ten minutes south of Phuket International Airport.

Separated from Nai Yang by the forest, the Bay of Nai Thon has the same qualities as its neighbor of a bit further north, white sand beach. At 300 meters south of the bay, Andaman White Beach Resort even has its own private cove. The explorers will also discover another completely deserted cove in the continuation of this hotel.

Besides enjoying the beauty and tranquillity of the beach, the other main activity of Nai Thon is to explore the rocky shores around the bay. It is possible to admire the coast from the boat, but the most popular activity is to contemplate the incredible diversity of the seabed by practicing scuba diving.
