The best beaches around Pattaya

Within a short drive from Bangkok, Pattaya is one of the most popular destinations in the world and one of the most visited seaside resorts on the planet with more than 10 millions people. And what do you expect to find in a seaside resort? BEACHES of course! Good news, the area is surrounded by them, here are our favorites!

Pattaya beach

Probably the most popular in the area thanks to its central location in downtown Pattaya. This is the city’s main beach stretching on around 3 kilometers along Pattaya. There, you will find numerous activities from sunbathing to water sports including parasailing, jet skis, banana boat, etc. You will also find plenty of sunbeds with delicious food and beverages in order to spend a pleasant day on the sand. The government has recently added extra sand to Pattaya Beach in order to renovate and widen it.

Jomtien

Jomtien beach is the second most popular and the longest one in the area. You simply can’t miss it if you pass by Jomtien as it stretches on approximately 6 kilometers on the south of Pattaya and offers the perfect option for those looking for a nice and relaxing day at the beach. Indeed, it offers calm and tranquility while being easily accessible from anywhere in Pattaya area. As on Pattaya Beach, Jomtien offers plenty of sunbeds where you can enjoy delicious dishes and refreshments as well as numerous activities such as jet skis, boats, and even a volleyball court. Jomtien beach is also loved among tourists and locals for the numerous bars, restaurants or even night markets that you can find on the street along the beach. If you are lucky enough to be around there in december, you will even have the chance to attend the Jet Ski World Cup happening every year!

Dongtan beach

Far less crowded than Pattaya and Jomtien beaches, Dongtan beach stretches on approximately 1.5 kilometer between the notorious Pratumnak area and the residential Jomtien area. Dongtan beach is a quiet place, clean with plenty of coconut trees offering shade to cool down during a hot day at the beach. This is the perfect option for those looking for a quiet and easily accessible beach to relax during their stay in Pattaya.

Naklua and Wongamat beaches

Located very close to each other in the Northern part of Pattaya. Naklua and Wongamat beaches are two secluded beaches where you will barely find any water sport activities such as jet skiing for example. Which means those are the perfect beaches to relax and swim! The beaches are quite popular as the area is surrounded by prestigious condominiums. However, they are rather calm and quiet compared to Pattaya beach.

Baan Amphur

Located approximately 20 minutes south of Pattaya around Na Jomtien area, Baan Amphur is a beautiful beach where both sand and water are clean. There is also a large parking area so you won’t have any trouble if you come with your own car or motorbike. The place is relatively quiet during weekdays but it sees more people coming during the weekends.

Bang Saray

Located in a small fishing village, Bang Saray offers a unique atmosphere where time has seemed to stop. The area is quiet and very typical, the beach is clean as well as the water and you will find nearby some succulent seafood restaurants. The area is not crowded but tends to be a popular spot during weekend, especially among Thai people.

Sai Kaew beach

Within a 30-minute drive south of Pattaya in the Sattahip area is Sai Kaew Beach (Hat Sai Kaew). Located on the east coast of Thailand, its meaning, “crystal sand” already says a lot about its splendor. Open to tourists since 2003, Sai Kaew is located at the end of a Thai Navy military base. This is one of the most visited beaches in Sattahip and probably one of the most beautiful in the region!
