Established in 1997, the Bumrungrad International Hospital Cardiology Center is one of the world’s leading centres of excellence and offers world-class healthcare to over 40,000 patients each year. These patients come from all over the world, looking for innovation and expertise for which Bumrungrad is well known. With the goal of providing targeted treatment for cardiac arrhythmias, and to conduct research in this area, the Arrhythmia Clinic is an example of the Heart Center’s commitment to excellence in cardiac care.
What is Cardiac Arrhythmia?
Cardiac arrhythmia is detected by heart palpitations caused by too fast, slow, or irregular heartbeats due to the abnormal electrical activity of the heart. Some symptoms of cardiac arrhythmia may include fatigue, palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, and in each case, immediate medical attention is required. In the most severe cases, arrhythmia can cause loss of consciousness or sudden cardiac arrest. But in most cases, patients see no signs and no symptoms until it is too late. That is why it is very important to determine the exact cause of an anomaly accurately and as quickly as possible.
An unprecedented technology
In order to continue its commitment and become a leader in the innovative approach to the treatment or cardiac arrhythmia, the Arrhythmia Clinic at Bumrungrad International Hospital has announced the launch of CardioIinsigt; new technology at the service of medical diagnosis. Bumrungrad is the first hospital in Asia and the third in the world to implement this technology.
CardioInsight is a non-invasive technology that can diagnose a cardiac arrhythmia. No tools or materials are inserted into the patient’s body. The system uses 252 electrodes that are worn by the patient and that detect the heart’s electrical signals by capturing electrocardiographic signals from the chest. These signals are then combined with cardiac tomodensitometry (CT) data to create patient-specific 3D medical images. This technology would be able to locate the abnormality and thus provide effective treatments while saving time and improving the patient experience.
In collaboration with Bumrungrad International Hospital and CardioInsight’s founding team, Bumrungrad cardiac specialists are keen to offer a precise, non-invasive diagnosis that will lead to the most appropriate care method for each patient.
